Long ago, in a peaceful village, there lived an old teacher named Master Govind. He was known for his wisdom and kind heart. One morning, as he walked past the fields, he saw a group of young boys resting under a tree, laughing and playing cards instead of helping their families with the harvest.
“Why do you waste your time here?” asked Master Govind gently.
One boy replied, “We have all the time in the world, Master. Life is long, and we will work when we are older. Now is the time to enjoy!”
The teacher smiled and said nothing. Years passed, and those same boys grew into men. But when they tried to farm their land, they found it difficult. Their bodies grew tired quickly, and they regretted not learning discipline and skill when they had energy. Some fell into debt, while others longed for the strength they once took for granted.
One day, they went to Master Govind, now even older, and said, “Teacher, why did you not stop us? We wasted our youth in play and now lack the strength to achieve our dreams.”
Govind replied softly, “I did not stop you because wisdom cannot be forced. Only life can teach the truth: youth is wasted on the young. Energy without wisdom is like a lamp without oil—it burns brightly but soon dies out. If you had valued your youth, today your age would have been a crown, not a burden.”
The men bowed their heads in silence, realizing that opportunities once lost never return.
